Stacey Moffat writes lighthearted, humorous picture books and novels. Woven throughout her stories are themes of connection and belonging.
Stacey began her career as an elementary school teacher. When she and her husband started a family, raising three unique children made for a few bumps in the road. Her journey with words began when she wrote about the biggest bump—her son’s complex communication needs—in newsletters, on blogs, and in Exceptional Family Magazine.
With a love of learning at the wheel, Stacey made stops along the way to gain knowledge about AAC (augmentative and alternative communication), and to teach ESL (English as a second language) to adults. Fuelled by curiosity, and with a playful sense of humor along for the ride, Stacey found herself on the road to writing stories for children.
When she’s not writing, Stacey enjoys reading historical fiction, hitting a ball, and singing along to her favorite songs while baking gluten-free snacks.
An alumna of Whale Rock Literary Workshops Mentorship Program, Stacey is also a member of SCBWI and CANSCAIP. She lives in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada with her husband and their border collie, Phoebe.
